Pick and Pack
Prior to printing packing slips and bulk pick tickets, our custom computer software verifies inventory levels and ensures any pre-payment orders have been authorized. Based on the orders available to print, an 'Overstock' report is generated, triggering a pull from overstock locations to fill picks needing more items in order to fulfill the soon-to-be-printed orders. The system then manages the printing in a Rush-Orders-First, then FIFO priority. It sorts the pick-tickets to optimize efficiencies by grouping together orders with like items and orders with items in close pick location proximity. Bar codes are used to scan locations, orders, and items (when available), maximizing accuracy. Picker, packer, and shipper IDs are captured real-time at each step of the process.
Not only does our internal staff structure mentioned previously allow for quick response to temporary projects, it also provides flexibility to manage seasonal order fulfillment. Our cross-trained labor force provides us with the ability to use skilled and experienced labor where there is need: in the call center, in duplication, and/or in fulfillment. Seasonality is managed with our FP-employed, variable labor pool as well as with temporary staff from our preferred staffing vendor.
